FAQ
Frequently Asked Questions
Who do you typically coach?
Founders and CEOs of venture-backed and privately funded technology companies, usually after initial product-market fit. Most are deep tech companies in AI, IoT, biotech (pharma and medical device), mobility and new energy.
Why work with a coach when I can just ask Claude or ChatGPT?
AI answers the questions you ask. A good coach knows which questions to ask and notices the ones you're avoiding. I use AI and encourage CEOs to use it too. But being a CEO is a lonely job. Actually having someone to talk to who has been in your shoes and can give you honest feedback shouldn't be underestimated and isn't something you can prompt for.
How is this different from an advisor or board member?
Board members and investors have a stake in the outcome. A coach is in your corner. You get a confidential space to think out loud, test decisions and hear candid feedback from someone who has been there.
What does an engagement look like?
Regular one-on-one sessions with the CEO and often key management team members (mostly remote with some in-person); quarterly and annual planning sessions; support between sessions when time-sensitive decisions come up. The format is shaped by what we learn in the Finding the Signal step.
How long do engagements last?
Most begin with an initial six-month term. After that, we continue as long as I'm adding value.
How is pricing structured?
It depends on the scope, the cadence and the size of the management team. Once we have a chance to get to know each other and review the Finding the Signal document, we discuss what would make sense.
Is our work confidential?
Yes. Everything we discuss stays between us, and I'm happy to sign an NDA.
What is Finding the Signal?
A short questionnaire and follow-up discussion that helps us pinpoint your most pressing priorities before we go deeper. It makes our conversations more productive and shows quickly whether we're a good fit.
Do you invest in the companies you coach?
Coaching and investing are separate. Occasionally there's a fit for both, and if so, we agree on it openly up front.
What if it's not a good fit?
I'll tell you. I'd rather point you to the right resource than take on an engagement that won't help.
Ready for a different perspective?
Let's start with a conversation. No obligation, just a chance to see whether we're a good fit.
